The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Assessment Tool (OMSSAT) is an
assesment tool developed to permit residents, interns and practicing
surgeons
an opportunity to assess their knowledge of the breadth and scope
of the oral and maxillofacial
surgery specialty.
The questions/items are developed by a committee of oral and maxillofacial
surgeons. Editors
for each section or content area in the OMSSAT review items. Valid
psychometric criteria are applied at each stage of development. The
OMSSAT is criterion referenced and is not graded on a curve. Items
will not be equated because a new OMSSAT will be developed and administered
yearly.
The OMSSAT serves as a learning tool as well as an assessment
mechanism. After
scores have been reported all participants will have online access to
the entire self assessment, correct response, a rationale for the correct
answer, and references for each item. We believe this will
be advantageous for future study needs.
The ABOMS has moved to online registration and testing to benefit
those participating in the assessment process. We encourage you to
review the registration process on our website aboms.org. If you
have any questions please feel free to contact Erin Killeen at eekilleen@aboms.org or
