July is National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month
Each July, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) joins the national effort to shine a light on cleft and craniofacial conditions – congenital difference that impact thousands of children and families every year. This month serves as a time to educate, advocate, and honor the life-changing work being done in this specialized area of care. ABOMS proudly recognizes the Diplomates who dedicate their expertise to treating these complex conditions.
Certification is the foundation. Subspecialty recognition is the distinction.
ABOMS board-certified surgeons are already recognized for their commitment to quality. It reflects a surgeon’s ongoing dedication to lifelong learning, leadership in their field, and a proactive approach to career growth. ABOMS-certified surgeons with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery (Cleft and Craniofacial) validates advanced training and experience in a specific area of surgery. These surgeons have gone above and beyond to master a specific area of care.
What is the Value in Seeking additional Certificates of Added Qualification?
The CAQ in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery represents the highest level of recognition for surgeons in this field. Diplomates who pursue this additional qualification demonstrate their commitment to comprehensive patient care, continued education, and advanced specialized training.
“I was elated to earn my CAQ in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery. This acknowledgement validated my work and experience and helped to carve a pathway in our niche specialty. As the fellowship director in my institution, it has been helpful to share this goal with current and prospective fellows. I look forward to helping future fellows prepare for this CAQ and supporting them as they pursue this wonderful accomplishment.”
