Whether you were Board Certified 30+ years ago or just last year, you likely remember your examination day – and perhaps the associated nerves! What many people may not realize is the extensive work that happens behind the scenes, including the vital role of psychometricians.
This year, we are conducting a Job Task Analysis (JTA), a process completed every five to seven years. Our psychometric team worked alongside a group of 11 Diplomates whose certification years ranged from newly board-certified to those with years of experience.
The JTA identifies the tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The findings are used to update the examination blueprints. This process requires significant time and dedication and plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards we uphold at ABOMS.
We thank our volunteers who not only participated in our two-day JTA workshop during the AAOMS Annual Meeting, but continue to work on related tasks through virtual calls, survey review, and more.
Thank you to our JTA volunteers for your continued commitment. Your work will shape our examination process for years to come!
